Helvetiaplatz in Zurich District 4 is one of several locations where farmer’s markets take place twice a week. At Helvetiaplatz the market days are Tuesday and Friday from 7am to 11am.

Helvetiaplatz is filled with stalls of fresh veggies and fruits from local farmers and from sellers who import directly from Italy, France or Germany. Some of the products get of course bought at the Engrosmarkt at 4am in Zurich but when you look around you will find lots of local produced seasonal vegetables and fruits as well as fresh bread, lots of cheese, olives, herbs and flowers. Many of them sell organic products but I would not hesitate to buy from local producer even if not certified organic.

The market at Friday offers slightly more than on Tuesday. In case you want to buy fish, meat or you fancy special cheeses from France you will find great products on Saturday. On a nice sunny morning it seems everybody is meeting at Helvetiaplatz for a chat.

District 4 in Zurich with its centrally located Helvetiaplatz, the famous Langstrasse and Europaallee and its side streets offer an international ambiance with a large variety of restaurants, cafes, shops, bars, parks, and spots on the river to hang around and relax. If you should get hungry, go to the John Baker bakery right at Helvetiaplatz and get a vegan tofu sandwich.
